| The LASC library will contain a wealth of materials related to sexuality and gender, including artwork, videos and rare and out-of-print books that are in circulation or available for reference in the LASC reading room. The library and reading room will be available to Center professionals, affiliated students, other professionals and Friends of LASC. The LASC library includes an online card catalog and links to electronic journal articles and books. Center professionals may use their online accounts to access the library and search by fields including author, title, journal name, conference, publisher, as well as many standard keywords and descriptors. Search results may be saved to a users private database, which can be accessed online. Once a user saves a search, the system will continue to automatically search the database and send an email notification to that user when relevant articles have been added to the database. This ensures that users will always have the most recent information available on topics of interest, which is especially important when writing papers or journal articles. The LASC library is updated on a daily basis through the British Library advance sheets, alerting users to new information in real time. The LASC library is a wonderful resource for professionals and students because it has been designed to write interactively with you. Citations saved to a users individual database are accessible through a Write-N-Cite function that allows users to insert citations into their documents. The user specifies the format, which includes APA as well as hundreds of other formats. The system automatically produces a list of references cited in the specified format, which is a tremendous time saver. Our library is growing and we invite your input. We are in the process of increasing the online resources at LASC by adding articles and books that our members have identified as important. We seek to provide a collection of materials that are not currently found online and in doing so, advance our mission to provide information and promote research in the field of sexuality. Please email your feedback to library@lasexualitycenter.com. |
